What have you been doing since you went alumnae of Chi Omega Rho?
Had a couple of fun-filled road trips across the US and back (Route 66!). I worked for an architectural firm in Keego Harbor and also in Southfield before I moved to Wales, UK in 1998 where I did my post grad at Cardiff University. Got married the same week as graduation. Been working for the same architectural practice in Wales since 1998. Love to travel... Italy, France, China... and of course back and forth to Troy, Mich.!! We now live in England.

What do you feel was the best part of being apart of Chi Omega Rho?
I enjoyed every part of being an O'Rho.

What did you take from Chi Omega Rho when you went alumnae?
Friends for life - doesn't matter how far apart you live from each other, you know you have really good friends when keeping in touch has not been difficult. We are such good friends and have supported each other through all of life's craziness... the boyfriends, the weddings and now all the babies!

What advice or comments can you give to the girls that are already apart of Chi Omega Rho or girls that are interesting in becoming apart of Chi Omega Rho?
Enjoy your time as an O'Rho and get involved as much as you can. I didn't realize it at the time nor when I joined how much being part of the sorority was going to help set me up for life... the friends, people and social skills (and I'm not talking parties and alcohol!), and balancing all the responsibilities with school, work and personal life.

What is quality or personality trait did you learn about yourself from being apart of Chi Omega Rho that you didn't know you had until after being apart of it?
Self confidence.

What have you been doing since you went alumnae of Chi Omega Rho?
Nothing fascinating since it hasn't been that long but basically I have been focusing on the next stages of my life i.e. career goals, marriage, family, friendships. I promise this section will get better :o)

What do you feel was the best part of being apart of Chi Omega Rho?
Having the experience that someone is always there for you when you need them regardless of the situation.

What did you take from Chi Omega Rho when you went alumnae?
Besides the typical response "Sisters for life".. I took with me the ability to determine what really matters in life and what doesn't.

What advice or comments can you give to the girls that are already apart of Chi Omega Rho or girls that are interesting in becoming apart of Chi Omega Rho?
For members: Life is too short to dwell on petty ridiculous things...never be afraid to show who you really are or say what you really thing...and Sisters of Chi Omega Rho do not judge each other or compare each other...For future members or Greeks in general: Being a part of Chi Omega Rho or any organization for that matter is going to be as great or as miserable as you make it to be. You are the only one that can determine what you will take from the experience. Be open minded and always remember what made you want to be a part of that organization.

What is quality or personality trait did you learn about yourself from being apart of Chi Omega Rho that you didn't know you had until after being apart of it?
As stone cold as I try to portray myself, I really do have feelings!!

What was your best experience while an active member?
My best experience as an active member would have to be the last formal that I attended. At that moment I was close to most everyone that was a member and I felt the most connected to the membership. We all had a great time dancing and just enjoying each others company. I will never forget that night.

What are your best experiences going and being alumni?
My best experience as an alumni was the planning of the 25th anniversary formal. I really enjoying meeting with the committee to plan an event that would not only be for them but also for everyone that had ever been a member. I also loved putting together 25 years of sisterhood into scrapbooks that would always be around for future sisters to see everything that we have done, and what we are all about.

There are so many to mention! First one would have to be pledging - from laughing so hard my stomach hurt while we were trying to take a simple picture to shopping for retreat at Kmart at midnight. As much as we hated pledging, I would never replace that experience!! Getting Stef as a daughter; I didn't think that she would choose me! The whip cream fight with Andrea at retreat, running to the grocery store during rush with Maureen, Kathleen, Holli, and Katie K. and getting completely soaked in the rain, breaking into Maureen's car to do dirty girl scouts at the Spot Light Party and just hanging out with the sisters in general.

What was your best experience while an active member?
There are so many experiences that I loved, it's hard to just name one. I will say that being pledge master for a semester was great, and the girls (Rachel, Nicole, Allison & Kristen) were sweethearts, and I loved helping them through stuff to become great members, both active & alumni, that they now are! I also loved going to the rush events such as Spaghetti Dinner, Graffiti Party, etc., meeting new people, becoming very close friends with some girls in the sorority (Mindy Sawalha and Leslie Bourlier were bridesmaids in my wedding), and allowed the privilege of becoming an "honorary member" even though to everyone in the sorority and myself at the time, that was only a formality. I pledged like everyone else before me did, and felt like a regular active member even though I didn't attend LTU. Pledging, for this reason only, was a bit challenging but well worth it!!!

What are your best experiences going and being alumni?
At first, I felt sad about going alum due to the age-old fable that people "drop from the face of the earth" so to speak when they go alumni. I didn't want that to happen. It was great going alumni, however, in the sense that I felt it was the right thing to do in terms of how much time I had at that point to dedicate to the sorority. It was either 100% or alumni and I had to choose alumni due to other things going on in my personal life such as school, work, getting married, etc. I was very glad when I went alumni and saw that the alumni relations with the active members was being improved upon and I think it has gotten much better lately. I always feel very welcome and included by the sorority at events I am able to attend.

What have you been doing since you went alumnae of Chi Omega Rho?
I attended grad school at North Carolina State University…moved back to Northville Michigan and have been working at DSA Architects since October 2003, but will be moving to South Carolina August 21, 2006 to start work at Timbes Architectural Group in Myrtle Beach.

What do you feel was the best part of being apart of Chi Omega Rho?
The close bonds I still have with some of my sisters…we still try to get together at least once a month and catch up on everything that has been going on in our lives…

What did you take from Chi Omega Rho when you went alumnae?
Do what you need to do to reach the goals you have set for yourself and your sisters will always be there to support you even if they don’t necessarily agree with things at the time…

What advice or comments can you give to the girls that are already apart of Chi Omega Rho or girls that are interesting in becoming apart of Chi Omega Rho?
Find out if it is the right fit for you before committing to this family. It isn’t all for show, for the name or sake of being a part of a Greek organization. The people you meet will be the people you will keep as a part of your life, long after school is gone…treasure the moments you have…

What is something that we should know most about Chi Omega Rho?
Value what you say and do as a part of this special group of girls. The girls you meet as part of Chi Omega Rho will be the ones that stick with you for the rest of your life!

            Reflection:
The sisterhood of Chi Omega Rho means so much to me and I will cherish every moment I spent with my sisters for the rest of my life. I have taken with me life long friendships and memories that can never be replaced. Through being a member of Chi Omega Rho I learned respect, leadership, humbleness, honor and most importantly friendship.
